Animal welfare housing with Spotmix Welfare & Strohmatic Light

Moderne Schweinehaltung in der Haltungsstufe 4 bei Familie Asbrock!

How can animal welfare, automated feeding and efficient housing management be combined? The Asbrock family in Osnabrück has modernised their pig farm and converted it to rearing stage 4. Various solutions from Schauer Agrotronic are being used in this process.

In free farrowing systems, shallow troughs encourage piglets to start feeding alongside their mothers at an early stage. With Spotmix Welfare, chopped straw is also dispensed into the pens as required.

The straw is first processed using the Strohmatic, which removes up to 80 per cent of the dust. In the piglet and fattening houses, too, daily straw distribution in the exercise areas is automated using the Strohmatic Light.

In the waiting house, sows are individually fed in fixed groups via Compident Simultan. A Compident 8 with a training function is available for gilts. Qanto, PigManager Smart and the Schauer Cloud also enable convenient monitoring of feeding and system data.

Advantages at a glance:

  • Automated multi-phase feeding with Spotmix
  • Demand-based straw dispensing with Spotmix Welfare
  • Up to 80 per cent dust-removed, chopped straw
  • Individual sow feeding with Compident
  • Digital monitoring via PigManager Smart & Schauer Cloud
  • Generous space and straw-bedded resting areas
  • Integrated feeding and housing technology from a single source

The project demonstrates how automated pig feeding, straw bedding and digital housing management can be combined to create a future-oriented pig farming system in accordance with Housing Level 4.
