Organic dairy farm Wirsching reduces workload with Strohmatic light bedding system from Schauer Agrotronic.
Following its successful conversion to organic farming seven years ago, Bio Wirsching GbR in Middle Franconia is now also focusing on sustainability and efficiency in its stable technology. To reduce the workload and further improve cow comfort, the innovative Strohmatic light bedding system from Schauer Agrotronic was installed. When Johannes Wirsching took over the business, his parents' dairy farm was already being converted to Bioland standards. Today, the family-run farm feeds its dairy cows with regional feed and focuses on particularly animal-friendly husbandry – supported by modern technology.The new Strohmatic light system impresses with its simple handling and automated functionality:
- The bale breaker processes round and square bales with a maximum cutting length of 8 cm.
- The short-cut straw is efficiently distributed throughout all areas of the barn via the rope pulley conveyor system.
- A patented dust separation system removes up to 80% of dust, improving the stable climate and protecting animal health.
The system is controlled via the internet-enabled Strohmatic SDUx control system, which allows quantities and times to be flexibly programmed and adjusted remotely – ideal for changing requirements in everyday stable life.
The farm requires a total of around 600 square bales of straw per year for bedding and feeding. The storage containers are filled automatically six times a day, which saves a huge amount of time.
The deep litter areas also benefit: here, the storage containers open automatically via a cable pull – the straw is spread directly into the pens and distributed by the animals themselves.
Thanks to the high-quality straw distribution, the straw mattresses offer high absorbency and contribute to greater lying comfort and animal welfare.
